She began singing at the age of four. Her mother was encouraging her to bring her to audition for Sesame Street. She began acting as regular performers in the year 1985 when she was a six year aged child on Sesame Street, a PBS children's programming. Her acting career continued throughout New York City with many productions, including Fences, a Broadway production, and Orfeo del Campo, an off-Broadway production. At the age of seven, she was a contestant in Star Search and won twice with a rating of four stars after appearing a second time.
