Claire Elise Boucher (/bu:'SeI/ boo-SHAY, born on 17 March the 17th of March, 1988), known professionally as Grimes, is a Canadian performer, singer music producer, and songwriter. There are many styles of her earlier music has been described as "lo the fi R&B" as well as "futuristic dance-pop". In addition, she has used elements from hip-hop, electronic and rock. She is often incorporating science fiction and feminist themes throughout the lyrics. There have been five albums. Growing up in Vancouver (later moving into Montreal), Grimes began making music for herself in the late 2000s and released two albums, Geidi Primes as well as Halfaxa from 2010 via Arbutus Records. The album was released in 2012 and Visions was her third studio album. She signed with 4AD. Visions contains the two singles "Genesis" and "Oblivion" and was awarded the Canadian music industry's Juno Award for Electronic Album of the Year. [5] Following this, her album on her 4th studio effort, Art Angels, was released in 2015 and received critical praise as several publications declared it to be the top album of 2015. Miss Anthropocene was her fifth studio album. In addition to the music industry, Grimes had a voice role in the 2020 gaming action Cyberpunk 2077 and is a judge on the competition for musicians game series Alter Ego.
